Burgess Hill Town Council has a dedicated team of men and women
who work hard to look after our town. The Council is responsible
for the Burial Ground, five allotment sites and three public open
spaces: Batchelors Farm, Folders Meadow and West Park Reserve.
However, the remit of our Mobile Maintenance Team is far wider than
this and the secret of our success is working in partnership with
the larger authorities. We undertake delegated functions on behalf
of West Sussex County Council and Mid Sussex District Council so
we can look after more of our town and provide a faster response
time to problems because we are based in Burgess Hill.
The Maintenance Team also looks after the roundabouts and various
landscaped areas. Our aim is to give you a visually different experience
as you drive around Burgess Hill. We also provide litter bins and
seats and look after the bus shelters. We provide a rapid response
team to react to issues such as potholes in the road, clearing broken
glass and making safe dangerous situations. If we cannot deal with
something ourselves we work closely with the Help Point Team to
ensure that the job gets done.

Burgess Hill Town Council recognises the added value that working
in partnership brings. One of our successful schemes that has been
running for the last three years is the “Twittens” project.
Burgess Hill has a high number of urban public rights of way and
we recognised that a significant amount of work was required to
bring these paths up to a standard so that people could use them
in all weathers. The Council worked with the Public Rights of Way
and Area Highways departments at West Sussex County Council and
pooled funds in order to carry out improvements. To date, twelve
paths have been upgraded with plans to carry out more work this
year.
The Team would be glad to hear from you if you have any suggestions
for improvements to our town or you would like to report a problem.
Contact the Help Point on 01444 247726 where staff will be happy
to help.
