OTHER
ENTERTAINMENT - An important contribution to local entertainment
is made by Bridgnorth’s Theatre on the Steps, a building that
is strategically placed halfway up the hill between Low and High
Towns. This small but well appointed playhouse is the home of the
local amateur and youth theatre companies where regular performances
are staged. The theatre is used from time to time for concerts and
entertainments by touring groups.
FESTIVALS
- Bridgnorth is fortunate to have three regular music festivals.
The English Haydn Festival is staged in St Leonard’s Church
with additional concerts in local stately homes and smaller village
churches at the end of May / beginning of June each year. At the
August Bank Holiday weekend a Folk Festival takes place in the grounds
of Oldbury Wells School and is attended by many thousands of people
from all around the country. The Jazz Festival takes place in October
at a variety of venues in the town and is a more recent innovation
to join the two other regular events. |
