Berkhamsted
lies on the edge of the Chiltern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural
Beauty, along a valley on the A4251, almost equidistant from Watford
(11 miles / 18 kilometres) and Aylesbury (12m / 19km).
The town has
a fast link to the M25 (junction 20) by the A41 by-pass (runs parallel
to the A4251, about a mile from the High Street), which also gives
access to the M1 (junction 8) above Hemel Hempstead, the largest
town of the Borough of Dacorum. Hemel town centre is 41/2m / 7km

Buckinghamshire.
The two main
bus services connect with Aylesbury, Hemel Hempstead and Watford,
and with Slough via Chesham.
The town’s
railway station is on the West Coast Main Line (WCML), with Silverlink
