Welcome to the new edition of the Berkhamsted Town Guide, which we hope, both visitors and residents will find useful and informative.

Berkhamsted is a successful market town with a rich and visible history, a bustling community, attracting light industry and appealing to commuters due to its proximity to the City of London.

The High Street features unique independent shops alongside well-known national retailers and commerce. The River Bulbourne and Grand Union Canal are easily accessible from the town centre.

Long established companies and trades people provide many of the services in the Guide, but there are newer businesses, which we believe, show the confidence they have in Berkhamsted as a progressive town.

The Town today has a population of approximately 18,000 and it is vital to the community that our local enterprises are supported.

I commend the many services and facilities contained in the Guide and hope that you enjoy the experience of living in and visiting our Town.

Councillor Geraldine Corry
Berkhamsted Town Mayor
