Ashby Castle

The impressive ruins of this grand medieval manor are set in extensive grounds, with tunnels and a spectacular tower offering views over the town.
This English Heritage property also offers visitors an audio tour which helps capture the atmosphere of life in the Castle especially during the dramatic Civil War siege of Ashby. The site is open all year but hours are restricted during the winter months. Tel 01530 413343

Ashby Museum

This award winning museum, which is open all year, is close to the town centre. It boasts a large local archive with excellent research facilities

Parks and Playgrounds

The town has superb play facilities for all ages and abilities close to the Hood Park Leisure Centre. The Bath Grounds offer a spacious green park on the south side of the town and during the summer hold occasional band concerts and cricket matches.

Hood Park Leisure Centre

The centre has three indoor and two outdoor heated swimming pools, full leisure facilities including dance studio, gym, squash courts and café/bar, with outdoor tennis courts and football pitches. Tel 01530 412181

Churches

The Parish Church of St Helens with its links to Ashby Castle dates back to 15th Century and features a rare finger pillory, believed to have been used to punish those misbehaving in church.
Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church was built in 1920 along the lines of a traditional Norman church.
The Holy Trinity Church is also the venue for orchestral concerts and the Baptist Church hosts many community activities.
The Alliance, the Congregational, the Methodist and others are all part of the fellowship of Churches, which come under the Ashby and District Council of Churches.
