Louveciennes
- France
Louveciennes
is situated 20 km west of Paris and is very near to Versailles with
its magnificent chateau and gardens, as well as Saint-Germain and
Saint-Cloud. The town itself is on a hillside overlooking the Seine
and is surrounded by woodland.
The town became well-known in the last century as the home of several
impressionist painters including Sisley, Pissarro, Renoir and Degas.
Each year in September a Flower Festival is held, the main attraction
being a spectacular procession of Dahlia-decorated floats, one of
which carries La Reine des Fleurs.
This is a fascinating town to visit with many places of interest
not too far away.
Gemeinde
Lautertal - Germany
Lautertal is a district at the southern end of the state of Hessen,
about 45 minutes by road from Frankfurt. It consists of a number
of villages only one of which, Reichenbach, qualifies as a small
town, and is governed by a Gemeinderat or Parish Council.
Local wines are distinctive, but there are not many vineyards, and
insufficient wine is produced for export. To sample these you should
visit Lautertal or the nearby area during the annual wine festival
normally held in October.
Interesting towns within reach include Darmstadt, Worms, Mannheim
and Heidelberg.
